Marvelous Monday! Estimating/Finding Exact Costs, Posters... Mensurs Bday!

Hi all,

    In math today, we practiced estimating costs and then calculating exact costs...

In reading and writing, we continued publishing our posters... and decorating!!!
The students are working very hard!!!

Terrific Thursday!! Coins, Biographies, and more!

Hi All,

   Just a quick note... Today we continued our review of money and coins in math...

We are continuing to publish for our leaders/biographies....

And, we talked more about earth day...

Wonderful Wednesday! Money Amounts with a calculator, Planting, Earth Day...

Hi all,

    Today students entered money amounts into a calculator and interpreted calculator displays.  Students noticed there was a decimal point and numbers.  But no number signs... .We practiced inputting numbers in the calculator....

   In Science, we planted our fast plants.... Take a look at our students planting today!!!

Terrific Tuesday... Decimal Notations, Soaked Lima Bean, Research...

Hi All,

  Today in math, we reviewed estimation, dollars-and-cents notation, and names for a dollar, dime, and a penny.


    In Science, we continued our investigation on lima beans... We talked about what lima beans looked like after a day in water.... Take a look....

Jaiden was touching the lima bean.... Jaiden said "it was very soft"

Nakiyah was smelling the lima bean... Nakiyah said it smelled like "nothing"

Finn and Kathryn were observing the size... Kathryn said, "The lima bean got bigger"

Miguel was touching the lima bean... he said "it felt lumpy"

Kevin said "the lima bean was soft"

I have assigned one page of math homework...

Rainy Monday... Coin notation, Science... Beans, More Research...

Hi All,

   Today in math, we reviewed notation and equivalencies for money amounts.

 

How many pennies are in a nickel?  5

How many pennies in a dime? 10

How many pennies in a quarter? 25

How many pennies in a dollar? 100  In 2 dollars?  200   In 10 dollars? 1,000

 

In science, we are investigated beans... .What does the bean look like? feel like? smell like?

Take a look at our scientists...

 

In writing, we are continuing to research... we will be publishing soon!!! And starting our posters too! :)

    Just a quick note... We took our UNIT 9 math test today!

Also, we read up to chapter 4 in Charlotte's Web... We met with Mrs. Mazzo's group and talked about Charlotte's Web... Take a look!! :)

Math Unit 9 Test.... Research... Charlotte's Web

Hi All,

   Can you believe we are finished with UNIT 9???  We start UNIT 10 in Math on Monday!!!  Time is sure flying by!!!

   We continued to research our famous leaders... Next week we will start our editing/revising process.... Our students are gaining a lot of knowledge on their leaders... This biography is so exciting for all students!!!

   We completed our chapter 4 in Charlotte's Web.... We are going to do book buddies with Mrs. Mazzo's room tomorrow :)

   There is no MATH homework tonight... But, please make sure your child is always reading every night... and going on dreambox :)

Wonderful Wednesday! Math Open Response, Research, More!

Hi All,

    For Math today, we went over our open response.... We acted it out... We had a director and an actor....

They said "1st, I fixed the ruler 0-5... Then, I added 3 popsicle sticks to each side, and 4 popsicle sticks wide, and Vic needed 14 popsicle sticks...."
