Wonderful Wednesday! Math Open Response, Research, More!

Hi All,

    For Math today, we went over our open response.... We acted it out... We had a director and an actor....

They said "1st, I fixed the ruler 0-5... Then, I added 3 popsicle sticks to each side, and 4 popsicle sticks wide, and Vic needed 14 popsicle sticks...."

Terrific Tuesday! Math Unit 9 Review, Research, Maritime Center, Charlotte's Web...

Hi All,

   Today we reviewed for our Unit 9 Test... The students have one page of math homework....

Also, today the Maritime Center came!!! Take a look at some photos...

 

We are continuing to research our leaders and write down facts about them...

 

Also, we started reading Charlotte's Web as a class... The students really love the story so far! It is one of my all time favorites!

Marvelous Monday.... Weights, Research, Research and more research!

Hi All,

    In math today, we compared weights by feel, identified purposes of various scales, explored with units of weight and equivalent measures, and weighed objects.  We used a balance scale... And compared objects and their weights... We talked about ounces and pounds as well...

Above is a primary balance scale....

 

       In reading & writing, we continued to research our leaders... we are using our books, articles, and online resources to help us!!!

 

 

Tonight, I have sent home one page of math and one page of reading for homework :)

Terrific Thursday! Units of Measure... Research... Quotes and More!

Hi All,

    Today in math we talked about more units of measure.... Take a look!!

 

Also, we went to the computer lab and printed articles, pictures, and quotes of our famous leaders!!!

 

I have assigned one page of math homework....

 

If your child wants to bring in any articles or pictures of their famous leader for their in school poster... they may :)

Wonderful Wednesday! Area, Perimeter, Research....

Hi All,

   In math today, we talked about area and perimeter.... Area is the surface inside an object... and Perimeter is the area outside of an object.... We talked about the area of our carpet in the classroom...

 

 

Students are researching their famous leaders... .If you have any resources or articles, you can send them in with your child... That will help the research process!!

Terrific Tuesday! Biography HW... Book Fair :)

Hi all,

 

           Today, I sent out a letter about the biography unit.... Tonight the students have research homework about their leader.... They have an "at home" project which is due on MAY 4.... The homework is posted below.... Please make sure your child completes this assignment.  

 

 

 

Also, today the students filled out a wish list from the book fair.... Please send in money for the book fair if you want your child to purchase books... The book fair is open until this Friday!!!

Marvelous Monday! Unit 5 Biography... Welcome back! Book Fair Wish Lists tomorrow!

Hi All,

   Welcome back!!! I hope you are all rested from our spring break!! :)
 Just a quick note.... Today in math, we measured longer distances and talked about miles and kilometers.  We looked at road maps as well....

Today we started our UNIT 5 biography unit.... Many students know which leader they want to research....

 

Tonight, I have assigned one page of math and one page of reading homework!

 

Tomorrow we are going to the book fair! :) The students will make their wish lists!!!!  They do not need to bring money!
