In Math today, the students practiced changing to more in number stories. The students started with one number (ex: 24) then added 5.... and ended up with 29. We practiced using fish in our number stories today!
An example of a problem we solved today was....
Fish J (who weighs 24 lbs) swallowed another fish. Fish J now weighs 29 pounds. How much does the fish weigh that Fish J swallowed?
In Reading today, our objective was "good readers can identify the narrator and point of view reflected in illustrations. I read the story Cherries to Cherry Pits and the students had to identify who was telling the story. At different parts of the story, different points of view were telling the story.
Camilo and Sophia are discussing point of views...
Kathryn is showing Jonathan evidence of point of view...
Miguel listens as Nakiyah reads...
Kevin is pointing to evidence of finding point of view...
In writing today, the students continued to publish their "What I wanted, how I earned money" stories.
Just a quick note, I have sent home one page of math and one page of reading homework...
Until tomorrow!
Best,
Miss Ignatiadis
