Greater Than, Less Than, Check for Understanding, Choosing a piece of writing to publish*!

Hi All,

Happy Thursday!!!  Today our math objective was "To provide experiences with comparing numbers using the relation symbols ,, ., and =.  Students practiced math problems using the greater than > symbol, less than < symbol, and = (equal) symbol.  Attached you will see a practice math journal page displaying student work.
Also, there was extra practice with money!

In reading, our objective was "good readers stop and check for meaning as we read."  Today we read the story "PiggyBook."  In the story, the mom left a note to the father and sons saying "you are all pigs!"  We discussed how the mother really didn't mean that they were actual pigs.... But, she meant they were acting like "pigs" because they were messy, not cleaning, and lazy! Make sure you ask your child to tell you about this story! They loved it!

Malaki and Kathryn received a paw for working hard!
Nakiyah and Sophia were checking for meaning.
Finn and Maira were working hard!

Celeste and Mensur were talking about their reading!

In writing, our objective was "good writers choose a piece of writing to take through the writing process."  The students went through their seed ideas and looked for a special piece of writing they wanted to eventually publish!

Look at these girls having fun at recess!! :)

Take a look at the stories students "starred" that they wanted to publish!

Finn is excited to write about camping!
Maira is wants to write about Disney World.

Nicole wants to write about the beach!

Bennett wants to write about a snow day!

Jacob wants to write about Basketball.

Mensur wants to write about Six Flags.

Ryan wants to write about Lake Quassy.

So so so proud of these eager readers!!!! Please stay tuned tomorrow!

I sent home one page of math homework tonight!!

Best,

Miss Ignatiadis
