Partner Reading... Using adjectives and more!

Hi All,

What a day!!! In reading, our objective was "good readers have strategies for reading with a partner."  We talked about some things that we do during partner reading.  Here is what we came up with:  Partners must be "shoulder to shoulder, knee to knee, holding the book in the middle, one partner reads as the other partner listens, switch, talk about the book, and read in whisper voices.
Take a look at these smart cookies partner reading!!

Students were thinking of strategies they wanted to use during partner reading.

Celeste and Mensur make sure their book is in the middle!

Jessica is listening while Jonathan is reading!

Kathryn is making sure that Malaki is following her read!
Bennett is talking about what he is reading to Nicole!

Kevin is listening while Ryan is reading!

Samantha is helping Christopher hold the book in the middle.

Nakiyah is talking about the book to Sophia.

Jacob is listening while Yomara is reading!

In writing our objective was "good writers use adjectives to make a piece of writing more interesting."  Today we came up with words to describe things.  (Example:  We described pizza as greasy, hot, cheesy... instead of saying pizza is "good.)  Adjectives allow the reader to really get engaged and describe the word that are using.

Take a look at some of the students work below!

Maira used adjectives describing a computer.

Jonathan used adjectives to describe crayons.

Yomara used adjectives to describe scissors.

So so proud of everyone!  What great describing words! :)

Tonight, I have sent home one page of math and one page of reading homework- reading homework corresponds to our writing lesson that we did today... students have to use adjectives to describe their main character!!!

Until tomorrow! :)

Best,
Miss Ignatiadis :)
