Marvelous Monday! Counting Strategies for Subtraction, Vera B Williams, Planning Halloween Stories, Fire Safety..

Hi All,

Today in math, the students reviewed, developed, and provided practice for subtraction strategies... We talked about the word "difference" and when the students hear that word... that they automatically know that it means "subtraction"....

I have sent home one page of math homework... 2.12... Subtraction Homework...

In reading, we started our new Unit 2... Author Study... Vera B Williams.... Our objective today was "Good Readers look at one authors work in an author study to learn about reading and writing."  The students listened to an interview from Vera B Williams and explored books that she has written.

Here are some of the books we will be using this unit....Lucky Song, A chair for my mother, Something Special for me, Cherries and Cherry Pits, and Music Music for Everyone....

Also, this afternoon the students had a fire safety assembly... Where they learned about things to do in case of a fire... "Stop, drop, and roll... Please remember to always be safe!!!!
