Today in Math our objective was to review the -0 and -1 shortcuts; and to guide children to identify the subtraction facts related to given addition facts. We practiced facts -0 and -1 together on the promethean board and independently. Students can also use dominoes to help generate related addition/subtraction facts! We also cut out our own fact family triangles to practice turn around facts with both addition and subtraction!
In reading, our objective was "good readers know narrative stories contain a message to be learned." We talked about how authors write a story and sometimes have a "message" that they want the audience to grasp... Take a look at these partners reading and stop and chatting...
Yomara is asking Jacob and Camilo questions about her reading...
Ryan stopped to chat with Kevin
In writing, our objective was "good writers use techniques to edit a piece of writing." We talked about using "COPS" during editing.... COPS stands for.... "Capitalization, Organization, Punctuation, and Spelling." Students worked really hard to make sure their work was edited and we also did writing conferences today to help aide in our editing progress!
I sent home one page of math homework and one page of reading homework tonight!
Have a great Monday!
Best,
Miss Ignatiadis
