In math today, we reviewed time and practiced writing it in digital notation. Students talked about analog and digital clocks and places they would see them... Celeste said "I know a name of an analog clock.... BIG BEN!!!"
Big Ben is an ANALOG clock.
Analog Clock
And, also digital clocks!!! (which could be an alarm clock!)
In reading, we read A Chair for my mother
and invited Mrs. Karpowich's room to hear the story as well.... The story is about a family who lost everything in a house fire.... Today, our focus today was to talk about family hardships and how the community helped the family in the story during their hardship. Students responded "Aunt Ida invited the family to her house... " and "a cousin gave the little girl a teddy bear"... and "the neighborhood gave the family food to eat..."
Take a look at the students during the read aloud and their reader's responses.... (including evidence)...

In writing, we continued publishing our Halloween stories.... Take a look at these authors!!!!
What a day!!! So proud of these great thinkers, readers, and authors!!!
A reminder, tonight, I have sent home one page of math homework (time practice) and one page of a reader's response!
Also, we have rescheduled the Stamford Arboretum trip for Friday, November 21. We will be back for lunch. We are leaving promptly at 9am... and should be back by 11:45am... Just in time for lunch that starts at 11:55am :) Please sign and return the new permission slip as soon as possible! Thanks so much!
